Item 1. Approval, Where Appropriate, of the Minutes for the Previous Meeting

Item 2. Calendar for Upcoming Meetings

The following calendar is proposed in order to submit the Strategic Plan to the Governing Council on 26th July 2023:

  • Submission of the first draft to the Strategic Plan Development and Monitoring Committee: 22nd May 2023
  • Deadline for the committee to propose amendments: 5th June 2023
  • Strategic Plan Development and Monitoring Committee approval of the first version of the 2023-2027 Strategic: 19th June 2023
  • Public display: 20th June 2023
  • Timeframe for the university community to propose amendments: 21st June 2023-4th July 2023
  • Timeframe for working groups to draft responses to proposed amendments: 5th-7th July 2023
  • Approval of the definitive 2023-2027 Strategic Plan proposal for submission to the Governing Council: 10th July 2023

In accordance with the calendar above, the next Strategic Plan Development and Monitoring Committee meetings will be as follows:

    • The General Director requests more collaboration between the UIB and business. He proposes a specific objective be added to the Transfer Pillar
    • The Head of Administration requests that no joint budgets be implemented, since a huge effort is being made to ensure the UIB has the necessary funding

Item 5. Round of Questions

  • The General Director explains that the Regional Department has requested the UIB produce a Strategic Plan, and expresses his gratitude for the efforts behind and implementation of the plan, in addition to his congratulations for the work carried out
  • Olga Uria believes that the ties between the UIB and society need to be strengthened. The university has to be more accountable to society and the Social Council more effective
  • The Dean of Tourism asks whether there are resources in place to implement the Strategic Plan
    • The Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Planning explains that a Strategic Plan enables the university to select priority areas, and that it is a tool to secure funding
